Keep your tenement in good repair with the Edinburgh Stair Partnership (ESP)

NOW it’s even easier to keep your tenement in good repair, with a helping hand from the Edinburgh Stair Partnership (ESP).

Until recently, you needed the agreement of all flat owners if you wanted to get us to help you organise common repairs.

While it is still preferable (and recommended) that all owners agree to join, it is no longer essential.

Now, with the introduction of the Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004, in certain cases owners will be able to proceed if a workable majority agree.

ESP is part of the Council, so you can be confident in the experience and expertise provided.

This dedicated team already helps more than 1,000 private flat owners across the city carry out roof repairs, stair painting and other ongoing maintenance.

If you sign up, you can be confident that your property is safe and well-maintained and, at the same time, protect your most valuable investment – your home.

When you join ESP, a survey will be carried out, a discussion held with all owners and decisions made about what repairs need to be carried out and the costs.

You remain in control – we only organise work that you want to carry out.

ESP provides a value for money, hassle-free service by organising competitive quotes from reliable trades people, collecting money from owners and ensuring that the repairs are thoroughly checked.

We can even organise ongoing maintenance, such as stair or gutter cleaning and back green upkeep.

And the work doesn’t stop there.

Every year we inspect your tenement and give recommendations – tackling small issues before they become big, difficult and expensive problems.

And it’s certainly a bonus when you come to sell your flat – new owners can be confident that they’ve bought a flat in a well-maintained block.
