Your views are wanted on the new city plan for Edinburgh

A new city plan has been drafted for Edinburgh and your views are wanted.

The first to be prepared for the city as a whole, it will be used to guide and promote building and development in the city over the next ten years.

The draft Edinburgh City Local Plan sets out detailed policies which are used to make decisions on planning applications – such as the design of new developments and protecting the environment, as well as the location and type of new housing, shopping, offices and factories.

It also contains site-specific proposals for new housing, open spaces, shopping facilities and business developments.

The Council will be carrying out consultation on the plan for eight weeks from the start of May.

If you would like to comment, please do so in writing or by e-mail before the end of the consultation period.

All responses are then considered and reported to the planning committee.

Alterations to create a finalised plan will then be prepared.

Copies will be available at Council libraries and the City Development office at 1 Cockburn Street.
