Since the introduction of presentation seats (or benches) in the late 1940s, hundreds of residents and visitors have gifted seats.
For some it is an act of remembrance of a loved one, for others it recaptures the memory of happy times spent in the green spaces of Edinburgh.
The first presentation seats were installed on Princes Street but they are now found in most of the parks around the city.
In more recent times, donors have decided on the more ‘eco-friendly’ gift of a commemorative tree.
With the correct care and attention, a commemorative tree will not only provide enjoyment now, but will enhance the city for future generations.
