Through a new partnership between the Council and The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, money is available to all Edinburgh schools.
Awarded schools must use the money to carry out environmental work and continue their development within the Eco Schools programme.
To gain their top-level Green Flag award, pupils and staff at Dalmeny have worked hard on a variety of projects, including:
- creating a new pond and planting trees to attract wildlife
- highlighting the benefits of physical activity by building a ‘trim trail’ assault course
- organising a litter clean-up along the local beach
- designing posters to discourage dog-fouling
- holding recycling workshops
- organising a ‘Healthy Eating’ Week
- completing their School Travel Plan.
While Dalmeny Primary is the first school this year to achieve Green Flag status in Edinburgh, it joins 11 other Edinburgh schools that have already reached the top level.
