The benefits of setting up a direct debit

Then set up a direct debit – there are many great benefits.
Last year more and more people signed up because it makes life so easy AND it lets us save money which we can spend on services for you.
The benefits include:
- you don’t need to go into a post office, bank or Council office or write a cheque and post it to us every month to pay your bill
- you don’t have to tell your bank or building society if your payment changes at any time – we’ll do that for you
- with direct debit, you’ll never forget to pay – your bank will pay the correct amount automatically
- you can choose which one of four dates in the month you wish the payment to be taken from your bank or building society account.
- we can collect the Council Tax more cost-effectively so that we can direct money we save into providing better services
If you are a Council tenant and wish to pay your Council Tax by direct debit please contact your local office.

- we can send you a direct debit form – call the automated information line at any time on 0845 1300 902 and press 1 after the introduction.
