Craigmilllar's Mind Body Stroll project from Edinburgh Leisure aims for a healthier lifestyle for all ages

Mind Body Stroll is a project set up in Craigmilllar to promote walking for health.

It is funded by Edinburgh Leisure, Paths to Health and Ageing Well and provides short, manageable walks in the local area.

Health walks are led by qualified walk leaders who are ready to give all the encouragement and support needed to get healthy and active. The walks are structured to be beneficial to health and are completely FREE!

Health walks are suitable for all abilities and ideal for people with medical problems such as heart disease and diabetes, or the not very active.

The walks last about 30 minutes and we go at a pace to suit the group, ranging from covering a mile to two miles in that time.

Walkers must be warned they might experience side effects including improved mood, more energy, reduced stress and feeling healthier! They may also be at risk from enjoying themselves and making more friends.

There is a timetable of walks, just like a fitness class program, allowing you to choose the walks that best suit your lifestyle.

To get started, all you need to do is turn up. You can pick up a timetable at various locations in Craigmillar including the Jack Kane Sports Centre or the library.
