Edinburgh Libraries Passport pulls together a vast range of resources

More than 20 library services in Edinburgh are linking up to give you access to a vast range of information and resources.

Under the umbrella of the Edinburgh Libraries & Information Services Agency (ELISA), nine university and college libraries, eight specialist libraries and all 26 of the public libraries in Edinburgh are working together to make it easier for you to find the information you need.

When your own library can’t help you with a particular information request, your librarian can recommend another library in the Passport scheme and issue you with an Edinburgh Libraries Passport.

You can use the Passport to:

  • consult books, information and other resources (the Passport will allow you to look at the resources available, but it does not allow you to borrow material)
  • use study facilities
  • search catalogues
  • access special collections
  • make use of staff guidance and expertise.

It is a good idea to check access, the availability of resources and opening hours before you visit.

Libraries participating in the Edinburgh Libraries Passport scheme include:

The public libraries

University and college libraries

National libraries

Special libraries

  • See the Edinburgh Libraries Guide at: www.edinburghlibrariesagency.info for a list of the participating libraries, their opening hours and disabled access information.
