Mid-term review for the city's Community Plan

Edinburgh Partnership commitments are set out in the Community Plan for the city. Spanning six years from 2004 to 2010, the plan is now undergoing a mid-term review.

This follows the publication of the Partnership’s 2005/06 Annual Report which shows that more than 56 per cent of the milestones in the Community Plan have already been successfully met.

Achievements include:

  • sizeable reductions in the delayed discharge of patients from hospital
  • nearly 1,000 affordable homes built
  • Home Safety Check Scheme implemented.

Rather than rest on its laurels, the Partnership is now taking the opportunity to refresh the Plan with new joint actions that will have a significant impact on wellbeing in the city.

The Edinburgh Partnership has decided to review its strategic priorities and action plan with a target date of September 2007, to incorporate prioritised objectives, outcome focused measures and effective performance arrangements to monitor and evaluate progress and impact.

Partners are currently examining priority issues of joint concern and identifying the action to be taken by the Edinburgh Partnership in order to make a real difference.

Measures to tackle climate change and promote sustainable economic growth are featuring strongly in the discussion, along with the need for further investment in preventative and care services.

This is an exciting development in community planning and we will report on further progress in a future edition of Outlook.
