More than 100,000 households now receive brown bin collections

Looks like we are heading for another record year with the garden waste recycling collections.

In March we collected nearly 50 per cent extra garden waste than during the same period last year.

This could be down to the good weather, very keen gardeners, or the recycling message getting out to even more people. The best area for garden waste recycling in the city is Corstorphine, with 44.7 tonnes picked up during the first three collections, narrowly beating Morningside/Greenbank and Currie.

More than 100,000 households now receive the seasonal brown bin collection. Extra properties have been added as we now have a special smaller collection vehicle to service the hard to reach areas, such as narrow streets.

Remember to put your garden waste straight into your brown bin, without plastic bags.

All garden waste collected is recycled into compost, which you can now buy from Forth Resource Management (FRM).
