Neighbourhood Teams to manage 'day-to-day' local services
The Council is changing the way some services are delivered so that they become more local, more joined up and more flexible to local needs.
The first step involved putting the people who manage important services together in your neighbourhood to work as a team.
Neighbourhood Teams manage those local services that affect our day-to-day lives including housing, our environment, libraries and community safety.
A recent event gathered the Lothian and Borders Police Safer Community Unit, Youth Action Team, Community Beat Officers and the West Neighbourhood Team together to share working practices and experiences when dealing with community safety issues.
The main aims of the event were to:
- share information in order to achieve safer and cleaner communities to reduce and prevent crime through proactive initiatives
- demonstrate to communities we are listening and working together
- achieve joint goals and improve performance by working together with other agencies
- reinforce that partnership working is the key to improving quality of life for people living, working and visiting Edinburgh.
All of the Neighbourhood Teams across Edinburgh are building on similar partnership working and it is hoped that residents will start to see improvements in their areas and will develop a trust in the services provided.
