Improvements and access to St Andrew Square thanks to the Capital Streets Project

St Andrew Square is opening soon to the public for the first time in generations, giving us all a chance to enjoy this green and tranquil haven in the heart of the city centre.

A café pavilion, operated by Coffee Republic, adds to the ambience of this newly landscaped square. Or, if you’re in a hurry, a new path across the square makes reaching Princes Street, George Street and Multrees Walk even faster.

The project, funded by the Council and Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, includes new lighting and seating, and a reflective pool at the Melville Monument, which has been refurbished.

The improvement works are part of the larger Capital Streets Project which aims to breathe new life into previously underused city spaces. Castle Street was the first and it’s now the home to the successful Eating Place food market held on the last Thursday of the month.
