The tournament on April 20 at Meggetland will bring together some of the best teams in Scotland including Boroughmuir, Watsonians and Stewarts Melville.

Capital Sevens is organised by Boroughmuir RFC, in partnership with Princess Anne’s charity, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

David Brown, board member at Boroughmuir, said: “Boroughmuir is more than just a rugby club.

“We think of ourselves as part of the community and believe we have an important role to play, doing all we can to assist and support local people.

“There are hundreds of people who are carers in our community and indeed in this rugby club.”

The all-day event will also feature a youth tournament and a backstage carnival with climbing walls, circus skills displays, and a host of sports promoted by Edinburgh’s ActivCity campaign.

Nearly 2,000 people flocked to last year’s event with up to 3,000 expected this year.
