Edinburgh Community Safety Partnership launch strategy to reduce violence
The first five-year strategy to reduce violence in Edinburgh has been launched by the Edinburgh Community Safety Partnership.
Although the majority of people in Edinburgh do not experience violence in their everyday lives, others are not so fortunate.
As a result, a new strategy has been put together with the aim of creating a safer environment in Edinburgh by tackling three areas that will have the greatest impact in reducing violence in the capital. These are:
- violence against women
- alcohol and the night-time economy
- other street violence.

The Edinburgh Violence Reduction Programme (EVRP) 2008-2013 brings together a range of partners and agencies who have all demonstrated a commitment to reducing violence in Edinburgh.
All those involved are aiming to undertake work that will lead to a change of attitude towards violence and improve perceptions of safety.
