Making the most of Marchmont this summer - with your car

Marchmont is one of those perfect places to spend a lazy summer day in Edinburgh.

Why not pick up something for a picnic on the Meadows at one of the many speciality food shops, bakeries and delis in the area?

Or enjoy a coffee or a meal at one of the lovely cafés or restaurants dotted around the area, enjoy the shops, or bring out your creative side by painting some pottery or tie-dyeing a t-shirt?

Many people think it’s difficult to find parking in popular Marchmont. But – as the map on the left shows – there are plenty of on-street spaces.

Where can I park?
In either pay and display bays or in shared-use bays (which can be used by both permit holders and pay and display motorists).

Please note that pay and display vouchers aren’t transferable, so if you move between parking places, you will have to buy another voucher.

How much does it cost?
From just 70p an hour, depending on the location – please check the information on the ticket machine to ensure you have paid the right amount and to check the maximum stay.

Parking charges only apply Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm.

What if I don’t have enough change?
Pay using your mobile phone with our handy mPark system. To register and pay with your credit or debit card (VISA, Mastercard, Maestro, Solo, Switch, Delta or Electron), call 0870 840 1000 or go online at www.mpark.com

How do I get to Marchmont by bus?
See the journey planner at www.travelinescotland.com – it’s an easy way to find out how to get anywhere in Scotland by public transport.

We featured Bruntsfield, Tollcross and Morningside in previous issues. See: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/transport for online maps of on-street parking in those areas.
You can pick up one of these parking leaflets in shops or print them off our website.
