Refuse men to offer advice
Times are changing as far as waste is concerned. Just ask the refuse collection staff who have volunteered to talk to residents.
They're giving local people advice on the Council's refuse collection service, street cleanliness, litter and recycling facilities.
The new responsibilities are part of the Waste Pathfinder, a project looking into how the Council can improve our environment services.
As part of Pathfinder, the volunteers are providing information on our services and receiving customer views on waste issues. The project will also see the Council look into ways to make our recycling services better.
Residents are being asked to give their views on the work the Council is doing to improve refuse collection services. The views of our customers will help shape how refuse collection is provided across the city.

Reg Cutkelvin, a member of the Pathfinder refuse collection team, explained why he jumped at the chance of working on the Pathfinder.
"I signed up because I wanted a change," he said. "And I have good local knowledge because I am based at that side of the city. Most of the volunteers live there.
"The times are changing! And our jobs are changing. It will be good to take on more responsibility. I'm looking forward to being more involved with the public and letting them know about the part we all have to play in recycling."
Collection days for all South Edinburgh residents and some residents living in other areas changed on 12 August.
