50,000 cheer Olympic heroes...

About 50,000 people packed Edinburgh's Royal Mile on 27 August to cheer on Scotland's Olympic heroes.

Edinburgh's Chris Hoy and fellow Scottish medal winners, Katherine Grainger, Ross Edgar and David Florence, made their way down the famous street in an open top bus towards Holyrood Park to the cheers of thousands of proud supporters.

Edinburgh pays homage to the heroes of Beijing as thousands throng the Royal Mile to see the Olympians return home while medal man Chris Hoy shows his three golds to the admiring crowds. Pictures by Paul Edwards.
