Cash payments to buy your care services
Did you know there’s a service which provides you with a cash payment to buy your care services?
Known as direct payments, the scheme is an alternative to a service provided or bought by the Council to meet your needs.
People in a number of situations can apply for a direct payment:
- if you have disabled children
- if you are aged 16-plus and disabled
- if you have a physical or sensory impairment
- if you have a learning disability
- if you are experiencing mental health difficulties
- if you are an older person who needs support to live safely and independently.
Your care assessment will determine the level of payment, which should equal what you would have been offered by the Council.
You can use a direct payment flexibly and you will have control of how the money will be used.
