Festival float is out of this world
Staff and service users from Bonnington Resource Centre recently saw months of hard work rewarded as their festival float took to the streets as part of the Cavalcade.
The intergalactic vessel (well, actually a converted lorry!) was one of themany attractions taking part in the celebration, which marked the official launch of the Edinburgh festivals.
And despite the atrocious weather, more than 50,000 people lined the capital’s streets.
Preparing for the Cavalcade has been a regular item on the Bonnington calendar for several years. The Cavalcade Group, whose members have learning disabilities, is run throughout the year on Tuesday evenings.
This year, supported by both staff and volunteers, the team had to work to a deadline to ensure entry to the parade.
On the day of the parade, the 27 service users were joined by staff, volunteers and even a live band, MV5…ensuring the float was out of this world.
