In brief

The Council’s Public Sector Academy (PSA) is hosting an event in the new year for people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds who are interested in working as learning assistants in schools.

The open day will cover information about the kind of work a learning assistant carries out, especially stressing the role of supporting pupils who have English as an additional language. It will also cover information communication technology when working with pupils with additional support needs.

The open day takes place from 10am-2.30pm on 13 January 2009 at McDonald Library, 154 McDonald Road EH7 4NN.
