A city of magic and mayhem!

What happens when ten of Scotland’s top children’s writers get together to celebrate Edinburgh?

Our City, which was launched in November, is the result of a unique collaboration in support of the OneCity Trust, Edinburgh’s leading social inclusion charity.

The book is a collection of specially commissioned stories for upper primary level readers, all set in Edinburgh.

It includes award-winning authors Julie Bertagna, Cathy Cassidy, Alison Flett, Vivian French, Keith Gray, Elizabeth Laird, Jonathan Meres, Nicola Morgan and Alison Prince – and with an introduction by children’s TV celebrity ‘Raven’.

They are joined by John Fardell, the acclaimed cartoonist and illustrator, who said: “It’s been really interesting illustrating all these different stories, as well as coming up with my own wee comic strip for the book.

“Everyone’s written about Edinburgh in different ways — modern, historical, funny, serious, ordinary life,extraordinary life.

“There’s definitely something for everyone here!”

Proceeds from all sales of the book will be donated direct to the OneCity Trust, which works with communities across the city to combat inequality and exclusion of all kinds, and to promote social welfare and human rights.
