About Edinburgh's East neighbourhoods

PORTOBELLO AND CRAIGMILLAR

The Portobello and Craigmillar Neighbourhood Partnership area lies to the south east of the city and includes the coastal towns of Portobello and Joppa, and further inland Brunstane, Newcraighall, Bingham, Niddrie and Craigmillar.

Among its features is Craigmillar Castle, one of the most completely preserved medieval castles in Scotland.

The sandy beach and promenade of Portobello is also a popular recreational attraction for people from across Edinburgh and visitors to the city.

Craigmillar is changing quickly, and the regeneration will provide new houses for sale and rent, new schools, parks, a library and a new town centre.

In Portobello, the Master Plan for the old sub-station site continues to be developed and the ongoing development of the Edinburgh Waterfront will provide new opportunities.

Across the area there is a strong sense of local identity and community.

CRAIGENTINNY AND DUDDINGSTON

The Craigentinny and Duddingston Neighbourhood Partnership area lies to the east of the city, with Seafield Road and the coast along its eastern boundary.

It includes the areas of Craigentinny, Restalrig, Lochend and Meadowbank to the north and Willowbrae, Mountcastle and Duddingston to the south.

At the most south-westerly point of the area is Holyrood Park, with Arthur's Seat, Salisbury Crags and Duddingston Loch.

There are many parks and areas of natural beauty such as Lochend Pond, Duddingston Loch and the bird sanctuary.
