THE 2022 VISION
By the year 2022, PORTOBELLO and CRAIGMILLAR will be a place where:
The community is a safe, clean, healthy and prosperous place to live.
We aim to achieve this by:
- working together more effectively, to increase opportunities that will help the community achieve a healthier and improved quality of life
- improving life chances, by valuing learning and promoting self-esteem in all young people
- delivering a sustainable environment for future generations
- delivering better quality services, which meet the community’s needs.
PRIORITIES 2008-2011
- improve community safety in the neighbourhood
- support for families, children and young people
- provide an environment that is sustainable, cleaner and more attractive
- work to deliver better health and wellbeing
- achieve an improved and regenerated local area
- increase opportunities for employment and training
- seek good transport links.

We aim to achieve this by:
- maximising everyone’s life chances by ensuring that the community values learning, and promotes self-esteem in all young people
- taking up the challenge to work together more effectively to increase opportunities which help the community achieve a healthier and improved quality of life
- delivering a sustainable environment for future generations
- delivering better quality services, which meet the community’s needs.
