Pefferbank path to building skills
In brief
Pefferbank Co-operative, a work training scheme for adults with learning difficulties, will now be known as Skills Path.
But it still supports people to develop confidence and job- related skills to find employment.
The trainees sort, and prepare for postage, a wide variety of newsletters and magazines, and arrange children’s gift bags for the libraries’ Book Start campaign.
Recently, the trainees visited their clients to get a better understanding of who they are working for…and got a big thanks for their efforts at the same time!
Currently, 37 service users take part in one of the two sessions each day and they can develop their skills over the course of a year, although some may stay longer. They are also encouraged to take up courses for further development.
Many of the trainees have successfully found work at places including Broomhouse café, St George’s Church café and Woolworths. You can contact Skills Path at pefferbankcoop@btconnect.com
