‘Portotato’ library mashes competition at veg fair
A replica Portobello library with potato men won first prize in a vegetable competition at the car-free day and village fair in Rosefield Park.
It was organised by Portobello Open Door, a successful popular arts organisation. Portobello Library is one of only six libraries in Edinburgh which is open on Sundays.
Joyce Campbell from Portobello Library helped create the ‘Portotato’ library, which was a huge hit at the fair.
The library was constructed from recycled cardboard and the potatoes were dressed up as little people.
Portotato library not only took first prize, but was awarded a special prize for inspiration.
