Priorities and visions for North Edinburgh

The Inverleith Community Plan is currently at draft stage. The priorities for joint action which have been highlighted at present are:

maintaining and enhancing our parks and greenspaces
making our environment cleaner and more sustainable
improving our roads and transport
creating an environment where children and young people can take part in sports and leisure activities
maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the community.

there is a vibrant community offering opportunities for all people to take part in public life
people are valued, healthy and feel in control of their own destiny
people are given a wide range of learning and leisure opportunities
the environment is safe and clean and our green space is enhanced, maintained and preserved
transport links meet local needs.

creating a healthier community
making our environment cleaner, greener and more attractive
ensuring we live in well designed, sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need
reducing the levels of poverty experienced by local people
improving services for children and young people.

there is a vibrant community offering diverse opportunities for all people to take part in public life
people are valued, healthy, and feel in control of their own destiny
people can readily access a wide range of learning and training opportunities
local services and amenities are of a high standard and responsive to the community’s diverse needs
the environment is safe, clean, attractive and social housing is on target to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard set for 2015
the people of Forth can fully enjoy the benefits of Edinburgh’s economic growth and quality of life.

improve the cleanliness, appearance and ease of use of public spaces
improve community safety
more facilities for children and young people
greater access to training and employment opportunities
improve the health and wellbeing of the community.

improve satisfaction of community safety
increase satisfaction and take-up of leisure opportunities among young people
reduce level of unemployment
fewer people smoke, misuse drugs and alcohol and more live healthier lives through better eating, being more physically active and being more socially involved
more people have better mental wellbeing.
