Priorities and visions for North Edinburgh

INVERLEITH PRIORITIES 2008-2011

The Inverleith Community Plan is currently at draft stage. The priorities for joint action which have been highlighted at present are:

  • maintaining and enhancing our parks and greenspaces
  • making our environment cleaner and more sustainable
  • improving our roads and transport
  • creating an environment where children and young people can take part in sports and leisure activities
  • maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the community.

The 2022 INVERLEITH VISION

  • there is a vibrant community offering opportunities for all people to take part in public life
  • people are valued, healthy and feel in control of their own destiny
  • people are given a wide range of learning and leisure opportunities
  • the environment is safe and clean and our green space is enhanced, maintained and preserved
  • transport links meet local needs.

FORTH PRIORITIES 2008-2011

  • creating a healthier community
  • making our environment cleaner, greener and more attractive
  • ensuring we live in well designed, sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need
  • reducing the levels of poverty experienced by local people
  • improving services for children and young people.

THE FORTH 2022 VISION

  • there is a vibrant community offering diverse opportunities for all people to take part in public life
  • people are valued, healthy, and feel in control of their own destiny
  • people can readily access a wide range of learning and training opportunities
  • local services and amenities are of a high standard and responsive to the community’s diverse needs
  • the environment is safe, clean, attractive and social housing is on target to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard set for 2015
  • the people of Forth can fully enjoy the benefits of Edinburgh’s economic growth and quality of life.

  • greater access to training and employment opportunities
  • improve the health and wellbeing of the community.

THE LEITH 2022 VISION

  • improve satisfaction of community safety
  • increase satisfaction and take-up of leisure opportunities among young people
  • reduce level of unemployment
  • fewer people smoke, misuse drugs and alcohol and more live healthier lives through better eating, being more physically active and being more socially involved
  • more people have better mental wellbeing.
