Priorities and visions for North Edinburgh
INVERLEITH PRIORITIES 2008-2011
The Inverleith Community Plan is currently at draft stage. The priorities for joint action which have been highlighted at present are:
- maintaining and enhancing our parks and greenspaces
- making our environment cleaner and more sustainable
- improving our roads and transport
- creating an environment where children and young people can take part in sports and leisure activities
- maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the community.
The 2022 INVERLEITH VISION
- there is a vibrant community offering opportunities for all people to take part in public life
- people are valued, healthy and feel in control of their own destiny
- people are given a wide range of learning and leisure opportunities
- the environment is safe and clean and our green space is enhanced, maintained and preserved
- transport links meet local needs.
FORTH PRIORITIES 2008-2011
- creating a healthier community
- making our environment cleaner, greener and more attractive
- ensuring we live in well designed, sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need
- reducing the levels of poverty experienced by local people
- improving services for children and young people.
THE FORTH 2022 VISION
- there is a vibrant community offering diverse opportunities for all people to take part in public life
- people are valued, healthy, and feel in control of their own destiny
- people can readily access a wide range of learning and training opportunities
- local services and amenities are of a high standard and responsive to the community’s diverse needs
- the environment is safe, clean, attractive and social housing is on target to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard set for 2015
- the people of Forth can fully enjoy the benefits of Edinburgh’s economic growth and quality of life.

THE LEITH 2022 VISION
- improve satisfaction of community safety
- increase satisfaction and take-up of leisure opportunities among young people
- reduce level of unemployment
- fewer people smoke, misuse drugs and alcohol and more live healthier lives through better eating, being more physically active and being more socially involved
- more people have better mental wellbeing.
