Super stars!

The 9th Annual Standard Life Achievement Award winners have just been announced and yet again excellence and success have been recognised and commended in all aspects of the Council's Children and Families department.

In South Edinburgh:

• A project for young mums in South Edinburgh was the winner in the Opportunities for All category. Sas-sy Mum’s website at Goodtrees Neighbourhood centre is a project for teenage mums to develop a website offering advice and support on the realities and choices facing young mums and their extended families in the 21st century.
• Congratulations also go to Visiting Teaching Support Services who took the Director’s Award for their innovative project, Effectively Supporting Pupils with Down’s syndrome in the Mainstream School.
• A literacy project, Scotland Reads – The Edinburgh Story by the Council’s Quality Improvement Team was the winner in the Partnership in Practice category.
