About Edinburgh's South West neighbourhoods

SOUTH WEST

The South West Neighbourhood Partnership covers Sighthill, Gorgie, Fountainbridge and Craiglockhart.

The Broomhouse and Sighthill areas have significantly higher rates of people excluded from the world of work, pockets of lower housing standards and health risks slightly higher than the average for Scotland.

Crime levels are significantly higher than the Scottish average.

People in the Fountainbridge and Craiglockhart area are healthier than the average, with higher levels of people within education, moving into further education and performing well at school, although crime levels are slightly higher. Craiglockhart and Slateford areas rank within the ten per cent most prosperous areas within Scotland.

PENTLANDS

The Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership lies to the far south west of the city and covers Colinton, Fairmilehead, Ratho, Currie, Balerno, Riccarton Mains – including the Heriott-Watt University campus, Wester Hailes and stretches into the Pentland Hills Regional Park.

Pentland Hills, Colinton and Fairmilehead areas show significantly higher levels of overall wellbeing than the Scottish average.
