Crackdown on dog fouling
In brief
Crackdown on dog fouling
A crackdown on dog fouling in South West Edinburgh aims to reduce complaints by 25 per cent.
This follows a shocking 165 per cent increase in complaints over the summer months.
Over eight weeks until 6 November, four hot spots – the Caledonians, Fountainbridge, Wester Hailes and the Calders – have been targeted. By law, any person who allows their dog to foul in any open public space and does not immediately pick up could be issued with a fixed penalty for £40, rising to £60 if not paid within 28 days.
