On their bikes and out of trouble

South Queensferry PC Iain Jamieson has been helping local youngsters get on their bikes…and out of trouble!

Six youngsters from Kirkliston and South Queensferry were chosen by the local Neighbourhood Action Unit for a bike-building course because they had an interest in cycling and were close to getting into trouble with the Police.

The course was designed to challenge their behaviour as well as provide them with skills that could lead into careers in mechanics or engineering.

PC Jamieson said: “They built their bikes from scratch…and got to keep them at the end. It turned out to be a great success.”

The course was in partnership with the local high school, youth workers, social work and charity bike recycling organisation the Bike Station.
