Success in making our streets cleaner
In your neighbourhood, 90 per cent of the streets are clean, as measured in the latest CIMS (Cleanliness Index Monitoring Survey) in December 2008.
A number of service improvements and initiatives are ongoing in South Neighbourhood.
A night-time street cleaning service was introduced in October 2008 running from 8pm to 6am, and providing service into Southside/ Newington, Potter Row and Meadows/Morningside.
A new barrow beat will be introduced into the Southside area from early in 2009 (focusing on the Newington corridor) to complement the route introduced into the Tollcross/Meadows area in May 2008.
As part of the refuse collection Pathfinder initiative, there will be increased lifting and emptying of on-street recycling packaging banks to reduce overfull bins.
But we still need the public’s help to make it to 100 per cent.
Please bin all your rubbish – including cigarette ends!
