Faster service for children
Children and Families Social Care Direct, the new single point of contact launched to report all child welfare concerns in Edinburgh, is already proving a success since its launch at the end of March.
Previously, callers had to use local area office numbers if they were worried about a child or needed to access children’s social work services. This new dedicated phone number, however, makes it easer for people to get through and allows social work staff to deal with queries faster, offering a more consistent service.
In its first four weeks, 777 calls were received and 90 per cent of these were answered within 30 seconds, exceeding all targets.
