A caring new home

Edinburgh’s latest purpose-built care home and day care service has opened its doors in North Merchiston.

The 60-bed nursing and social care home – the third to be built by the Council in partnership with NHS Lothian – is managed by Four Seasons Health Care, one of Scotland’s leading healthcare providers.

The day care service, a wing of the new building, provides a comfortable setting for 18 older people a day to receive support. Here, older people can enjoy a lively, welcoming atmosphere in their local community, while helping them remain in the security of their own homes.

The opening heralds a caring and supportive service for older people, in line with Edinburgh’s Live Well in Later Life policy which provides homes that meet a wide range of older people’s needs both in 24-hour care and in their own homes.

It also marks the phased replacement of older style Council care homes, which now need to be upgraded.
