Young Gaelic speakers’ library boost

Young Gaelic speakers are being invited to snuggle up with a good book, thanks to a grant from Bòrd na Gàidhlig awarded to the city’s library service.

Following consultation with the Edinburgh Gaelic Partnership, hundreds of new children’s Gaelic books have been added to Central Children’s Library, on George IV Bridge and at Fountainbridge Library.

Children from the Gaelic teaching unit at Tollcross Primary put their heads together to name the dedicated reading area and book collection in Fountainbridge Library,

naming it ‘Nead na Gàidhlig’ or ‘Gaelic Nest’.

With the addition of Gaelic books to Bookstart packs, which are gifted to babies, toddlers and three year olds across the city, more families than ever will be able to share the fun of a good Gaelic story.
