Book the kids in early
Five new Bookstart Rhymetimes have started at Central, Piershill, Newington, Stockbridge and Ratho libraries, bringing these popular sessions to every libraryin the city.
Rhymetimes are fun, free sessions with rhymes, songs and stories for children up to age three and their parents or carers.
Rhymetimes make it easy for every child to experience the pleasure of books, attracting thousands of babies and young children every year.
Library membership is available from birth and every library offers a wide selection of board and picture books.
And there’ll soon be even more opportunitiesas Bookstart Rhymetimes are being rolled out over 2009 to new venues including nurseries, health centres and playgroups.
Edinburgh is one of a number of Scottish authorities benefiting from special training provided by Bookstart and the Scottish Arts Council’s Youth Music Initiative.

Three libraries around the city centre are now offering wi-fi internet access – for free!
Pop along to Central, McDonald Road and Stockbridge libraries and access your e-mail or surf the web on your laptop or smart phone.
If you’re not a member of Edinburgh City Libraries, you can register on the spot.
This is the latest addition to our information services – we already offer free access to software and the Internet on hundreds of PCs across the city.
