Blooming marvellous

As reported in the spring issue of Outlook, Edinburgh won the ‘large city’ category in the 2008 Beautiful Scotland awards, Scotland’s top horticultural contest.

That accolade also included an invitation to represent Scotland in the finals of the prestigious, UK–wide, Britain in Bloom contest, which is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

To promote community involvement in the Britain in Bloom submission to the RHS, we have launched our own local Edinburgh in Bloom competition.

Residents, businesses or community groups are invited to take part in a range of gardening and environmental categories under the umbrella of the Blue Poppy, Edinburgh’s floral emblem, pictured above.
