Showing the way forward

Edinburgh's famous cobbled streets are pretty to look at, but increasingly for our residents and businesses the road ahead is a bumpy one.

To battle our way through the current financial downturn, it’s vital to bolt on the stabilisers that will support the economy of our great city while building for the future.

Interest from investors remains strong, with our finance, technology, science, creative and tourism sectors all performing well.

Yet we must not rest on our laurels while so many individuals are experiencing tough times. In a major undertaking, the Council has put in place a number of initiatives. The Economic Resilience action plan outlines how, in partnership with other organisations, the Council is providing advice and help to those facing hardship.

Through our support organisations, assistance is available to businesses and residents throughout the city.
