The Gathering 2009 is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Scotland’s culture, both contemporary and traditional.

A major highlight of Homecoming Scotland 2009, The Gathering will be the greatest international clan gathering ever held.

Thousands of people are coming from dozens of countries across the world for this unique family party in Holyrood Park.

Why not join us and be a part of history? Taking place over the weekend of 25 and 26 July, The Gathering features best of Scotland, past and present including:

live music arena, featuring Capercaillie, Dougie MacLean, Red Hot Chilli Pipers and more

clan village with 130 clan tents
Pipe Idol and pipe bands
Scottish food and drink fair
international authors and storytelling centre
Scotland Lives genealogy centre
the Nairns hill race and the Big Pull tug of war.

On Saturday evening, clan members will parade up the historic Royal Mile and take their seats on the castle esplanade for a spectacular clan pageant.

The clan pageant script has been specially written for The Gathering 2009 and will come alive in a theatrical show which is being produced by some of the world’s leading names in large-scale special events.
