Course is just the ticket!
Helping save lives on the streets
Edinburgh parking attendants are learning how to give life-saving assistance.
The new Heartstart UK course – the first of its kind in Scotland – was launched by NSL after recent incidents in the city when on-street staff immediately assisted.
Emergency training will further enhance the role of parking attendants, who work in partnership with the Police.
The main objective is to recognise the signs that someone needs help, even if a call to the ambulance service is all that is needed.
Out of Edinburgh’s 150 parking attendants, about 90 have so far signed up to the voluntary two-hour course which covers basic first aid training, allowing enough cover until a paramedic arrives.
The Heartstart UK course is delivered through the British Heart Foundation.
