How we make a country like Scotland
Edinburgh Lectures focus on our role on the global stage
The current series of the Edinburgh Lectures continues throughout winter and into next year.
Entitled Making Scotland, the series focuses on how the environment, politics, commerce and culture combine to shape Scotland, its people and our role on the global stage.
At the time of going to print, several speakers successfully sold out their lectures. These included Prince El Hassan bin Talal and our own John Byrne – writer, painter and all-round Renaissance man.
Lectures taking place in December and January include that of Hannah McGill, artistic director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, who will discuss “creating Scotland on Film” and Professor Dorrik Stow on environmental issues.
The Edinburgh Lectures are presented by the Council, the Scottish Government, Edinburgh’s five universities, the National Museums, the Scottish Arts Council and the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
