Buildings are favourite part of the neighbourhood
Residents and workers keen on architecture, entertainment and green spaces
Edinburgh’s many world heritage buildings are a hit with residents and workers in the city centre, according to the Your City, Your View consultation, held earlier this year.
The City Centre Neighbourhood team received an overwhelming response, with more than 1,000 surveys completed.
Architecture came out tops – 60 per cent of people said it was what they liked about the city centre – followed by the wide range of entertainment and amenities (53 per cent), access to green space (47 per cent) and public transport (23 per cent).
We also asked what you didn’t like about the city centre, and top of the list was the traffic (33 per cent chose this option), followed closely by littering (31 per cent).
We asked, as an open question, what you would like to see in the city centre in 20 years’ time. Seventeen per cent of people wanted more pedestrianised areas, 16 per cent said they would like an improvement in the quality and variety of shops and 10 per cent people wanted a significant improvement in litter and graffiti.
