Portobello High Street, 14 October

We asked, do you think there are enough activities for children and young people in the area?

Robert Kelly, distribution supervisor

No, there should be more youth clubs. They have the football pitches but when I go past they’re always empty, so maybe there needs to be more promoting of what’s on.

There’s a need for something, though what it is I’m not sure. There are youth organisations, but they are more formal. I think young people need more physical things to do.

Heather Laughlin, environmental health officer

I don’t think there is that much in Portobello – but there seems to be more to do in town.

You see the kids hanging around so they probably do need something to do. I think there are activities for disadvantaged kids, but for other teenagers there isn’t enough provision.
