Edward represents his country in under-17s badminton

Edward Cogliano will play for Scotland in the European Championship under-17s badminton squad.

Edward attends James Gillespie’s High School and is training under the Edinburgh Schools Sports Academy, a programme to help talented pupils.

In the past year, more than 80 per cent of Sports Academy were selected for regional or national squads.

Edward was ranked seventh in Scotland for the under 15s and is a member of Scotland under-16 squad.

“I was really pleased and proud to represent Scotland. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of,” he said.

“I’m really grateful to all the coaches at the Edinburgh Sports Academy and the National Squad who helped me to achieve my goal.”
