Colinton, 13 October

We asked, is there enough for young people to do in the area? Do you enjoy the events in the city centre over Christmas or is it just for tourists?

Martina Maybir, stay-at-home mum, Longstone

I do think that there’s plenty for my young son. We moved here last year so I went into the city centre a lot – there’s a lot on.

We have so many beautiful walks and scenery in the area, including the Pentlands. It doesn’t have to be bright and shiny to attract. I go into the city centre once or twice for Christmas, but I enjoy all the little shops around here.

There is a good range of activities for young children, who like to get outside, climb and play around. We like to go into the city centre to enter into the Christmas spirit.

Andrew Thomson, engineer, Redford Road

We use the local parks. We go to the fair in the city centre, but there probably wouldn’t be a demand for local events.
