Fire safety initiative
Parkhead and Sighthill get the message from fire crews
A fire safety initiative is being carried out in Parkhead and Sighthill through Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service. Leaflets were delivered to streets where the fire service has had problems getting through, due to the parked cars blocking access. These obstructions could seriously hinder an emergency rescue and endanger lives.
“We want to highlight the problem by targeting streets that are the most problematic by delivering leaflets through doors,” said Alex Law, of Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service. “We’ll follow this up by putting leaflets on the offending cars on streets, and after that we’ll have to look into working with the Police.”
