Our aim to make waste useful

Give your view on the Zero Waste project

Ever wondered what happens to the waste that goes in your household bin?

Even once you have recycled all you can, there’s always some waste left over.

This waste usually goes to landfill but Edinburgh and Midlothian’s Zero Waste Project is investigating the best way to recover value from it in the future and make it into a useful resource.

The project intends to apply for planning permission in principle for a site at Millerhill in March 2010.

Midlothian Council, as the planning authority, will undertake a formal consultation process.

To contribute your views on the application once it has been submitted, you must do so in writing. Please visit the planning section at http://www.midlothian.gov.uk/ or call 0131 271 3302 for more information.
