New library for Drum Brae
Planned opening in 2011
A new state-of-the-art library and day care centre in Drum Brae has received the go-ahead. The day care centre will replace the Tower and Clermiston centre for older people.
The new centre is planned to open in 2011 in Rannoch Terrace, next to the Rannoch Centre and Clermiston Health Clinic.
About 700 residents were asked last year what they wanted in the library service and their answers have been used as a starting point for the design of the facility.
You said you wanted space for adults, children and young people to relax, study and learn; better access to health and Council information and services; and a job search facility.
You still can get involved in shaping the plans for the design. Local focus groups, roadshows and exhibitions will be set up where you can see and comment on proposed plans.
