Time to reward businesses that serve older people

There are many ways businesses enhance the world of older people and which frequently don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Here is your chance to change all that! Do you know of a business in your community that provides services and products for older people, or whose services are particularly appreciated by older people?

Get up and go provides information aimed at older people, particularly those who may find it hard to get involved in activities.

Launched in 2002, it is a partnership between the Council, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh Leisure, and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce providing information on social, educational, employment, voluntary, sport and leisure opportunities in the city.

The awards this year will recognise employers and businesses who have successfully promoted the principles of Get up and go and an individual who has made a difference to the older population in their community.

Nominations are open and the final date for submission is 6 August. The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 1 October.
