Pupils take time out with elders

Youngster help with bingo at care homes

Big-hearted pupils from Drummond Community High School have been working with two care homes to bring happiness and companionship to elderly residents.

The S5 and S6 pupils have been visiting Porthaven and Clermiston care homes during the past year. The youngsters have been helping with social activities such as bingo events for residents who are blind and deaf.

The aim of the project is to get the pupils to interact with older people, improving the lives of the elderly as well as breaking down the stereotypical views often associated with young people their age.
