Have your say on new high school
Roadshows will take on board your opinions about the new Portobello High School
The people of Portobello are to get the chance to have their say about the design of the new Portobello High School at a series of roadshows.
Early outline plans for the £41.5 million school were unveiled earlier this year, but the Council now wants to hear the views of local people as the detailed design process moves forward.
The meetings, exhibitions and drop-in events are happening now and will continue throughout June. Someone may even stop you in the street to ask you what you think.
Set in parkland beside Portobello Golf Course, the school will have a ‘village’ design that will include the latest teaching facilities, a 25-metre swimming pool, all-weather sports pitches and community facilities.
The roadshows will ensure any concerns or ideas for improvement are taken on board and that potential solutions can be discussed.
The opinions gathered will help designers refine their ideas and their plans during their work in July.
Another series of events will run in August so people can see how things have shaped up and changed.
Once the designs have reached a suitable stage, the Council aims to submit a planning application for the school in the autumn.
