Switch on to saving energy - and the planet

Help to manage your gas and electricity bills

Changeworks’ new project, Switched On, is offering local residents free impartial advice and tailored support to manage their gas and electricity costs and get the most from their heating.

Craig Woodburn, one of Switched On’s first clients, said: “The assistance I have received from Changeworks has enabled me to finally resolve my issues with my energy supplier, resulting in me being placed on a more suitable tariff that drastically cuts the size of my bills.”

Switched On is a five-year project funded by the Big Lottery Fund that supports people on a low income in Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian.

People can receive free advice and one-to-one support, ranging from help to understand gas and electricity bills to setting up more affordable payments.

The aim is to build people’s practical skills to heat and light their homes more efficiently and secure the best deals from gas and electricity companies.

Reduce your energy bills with some help

Many of us are finding it harder to afford to heat our homes, especially with the long cold winter we have just come through.

But the good news is that there is plenty of help out there to help you reduce our energy bills and your carbon footprint, whether you are a home owner or a Council or a private tenant.

If you sometimes struggle with fuel bills, the Scottish Government’s Energy Assistance package could help.

You could save money on energy, or maybe even get home insulation or a whole new heating system.

Energy Saving Scotland home loans are interest free and can help stop wasting energy, give lower fuel bills and tackle climate change.
